Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Investigations
The main purpose of the IAQ survey and on-site inspection is to locate and identify source pollutant(s) that resulted in poor indoor air quality. The IAQ assessment involves interviews with the building’s occupants for specific and nonspecific complaints that are generally associated with Sick Building Syndrome. Symptoms such as headache, eye irritation, nose and throat irritation, and general fatigue are found to be associated with people when present in the building, and the symptoms subsided when these same people remained away from the building for some period.
ESI has a PhD Scientist consultant on staff with the knowledge and years of experiences in IAQ and issues related to moisture intrusion and mold growth, and bacteria indicator biological contaminants such as Coliform and E-coli.
The elements of IAQ evaluations as conducted by ESI consists of real-time monitoring and laboratory analysis of air samples for the following common indoor air pollutants:
Volatile organic compounds (VOC)
Mold spores as a result of water intrusion and dampness
Formaldehyde concentrations in the air
Carbon Monoxide (CO) concentrations in the air
Carbon Dioxide concentrations for determination of HVAC fresh air intake
Dust Monitoring for airborne concentrations of lead particles
Air quality monitoring for Asbestos Fibers concentrations in ambient air
